50 drivers in the Academy Trophy were present in Cremona for the second round, under a hot sun with 34° on the thermometer. The young hopefuls had to face a very sticky track with rubber deposits.
Aleksandar Bogunovic (SVN) was the fastest in the second lap of the first session in 48”706 and improved to 48”645 in the third lap. Matias Orjuela (COL) took over the lead with a third lap of 48’413. The situation did not progress any further over the next two or three laps. Bogunovic finished 2nd at 2 tenths, closely followed by Mark Dubnitski (EST). Santino Panetta (ARG) was 4th, 3 tenths behind Chiara Bättig (CHE) and Guillaume Bouzar (LUX) 6th.
Several drivers delayed their entry to the track for the second session. After a flying lap, Joel Pojola (FIN) led in 48”737 and improved to 48”566 on the second lap. But Thibaut Ramaekers (BEL) took the lead with 48”528. This was the best performance of the session, 17 thousandths ahead of Dinu Sabin Stroescu (ROU) and Iwo Beszterda (POL) at 34 thousandths, then Pohjola 4th at 38 thousandths. William Go (PHL) was in the top five at 0,137”, while the leader of the Trophy Arthur Dorison (FRA) was 14th by 7 tenths.
